Challenge
An automated fry-vending fleet runs across pilot locations. Each machine reports status heartbeats and sales through an API, and operators need a practical way to understand what is happening across the machines. They need to see which units are reporting, what maintenance has been recorded, what product stock remains and how sales trend over time.
Device identity also matters. A machine can be re-registered with a different device ID while sales are still queued. If those queued events no longer connect to the right machine, sales history becomes difficult to follow. Owners need a shared view of locations and performance, and teams need an export they can use for sales reporting.
What we built
We built a fleet portal that decodes telemetry from the machines and brings machine status and sales into one operating view. Operators can review heartbeats and maintenance logs, check product stock per machine and compare sales metrics and monthly trends. A map shows machine locations, and the platform supports multiple owners.
The portal includes Excel sales reports and Swagger API documentation. We also handled device-ID remapping so queued sales from a re-registered machine remain associated with the correct machine record. The portal connects the device events to operational information that owners and staff use to follow the fleet.
How we worked
We organized the views around the machine as well as the fleet. The machine view brings status, maintenance and stock together, while sales metrics and monthly trends support a wider review across locations. The location map gives owners a geographic view, and multi-owner support reflects the way the fleet is managed.
Telemetry decoding translates machine events into the portal's operating record. Device re-registration needs to preserve the link between queued sales and the machine, so the remapping process keeps that history attached. Excel reports give the team a portable sales view, and Swagger documentation makes the API surface available for project use.
The location map helps owners compare where machines are operating, while sales and inventory views support reviews of individual units. The same portal keeps device status and business activity within reach for owners and operators as the fleet expands.
Automated fry machines are running across pilot locations, and the portal gives the team a clear view of their status, stock and sales. Operators can follow maintenance logs, owners can review monthly trends, and queued sales stay connected when devices are re-registered.
Result
The fleet now has one place to review machine heartbeats, maintenance, product inventory, sales trends and locations. Owners can export sales reports to Excel, and the API documentation supports work with machine data. Device-ID remapping keeps queued sales with the correct machine as the program runs across pilot locations.
